After I told Ayman I was pregnant, he stuck around the house for a few days. He helped cook for the boys and even cleaned a bit. I thought things were going well between us, and I told him about the other men that had been in my life. Late one night, when we were going to bed I decided to tell him that I loved him. “Ayman, I have been thinking about some things. I am carrying your child and I know we don’t know each other well, but I just want you to know that I love you. I’m not sure if I’m IN love with you, but I do love you.” He didn’t have a response and that told me to be expecting his departure.

One day after school, I got a phone call from Columbus. “Hey! Mom I’m bringing Chandra home with me, if it’s ok.” I let him know that it was fine with me, but I told him that she had to be gone by 9o’clock and they both had to work on their homework. After their homework was done and the dishes were clean I overheard them saying goodnight. “Chandra,  will you be my girlfriend, so we can go on dates and stuff?” Columbus asked Chandra. “Uh, yeh, sure.” Chandra replied. Later on after Chris got in from work I told him what I overheard. “Mom, I hear that she has commitment issues. She cheated on her last boyfriend with like three other guys.”

I had been waiting on a certain phone call for some time, but it still shocked me when I got it. Ayman was still sticking around, awaiting the birth of our child and hoping for another little boy. “Asa?” It was Ramsi’s voice on the other line. “I want to see my boys,” Ramsi said. I told him to come on over and I’d round them up. I called Chris home from work and Columbus home from his friend’s house. I didn’t invite Ramsi in. It hurt too much just seeing him. I sent Chris out to see his dad first. “Dad? Hey,” is all Chris could say to his father. Chris hugged him tightly and told him how he missed him. Chris and Ramsi had always been close, even in the rough times.

Columbus’ reaction was totally opposite. “How could you do that to my mother? We had no money, nothing. Why couldn’t you just marry her. She was in love with you. Hell, she still is in love with you.” Columbus was really angry with his father for leaving us with nothing. I had tried to explain to him that I kicked him out, but it was no use. He didn’t understand why Ramsi hadn’t married me. I wish I knew that answer as well.

The argument escalated to yelling. “Your mother doesn’t love me anymore, she is having another man’s baby,” Ramsi exclaimed. “Well, if you had of married her when you had the chance maybe you and her would be happy right now. Maybe you and I could have actually had a relationship,” Columbus was right. If Ramsi would have married me, I would have had 10 of his babies. He also was correct about another thing. I was still in love with him. During the heat of the argument Ayman had left and wouldn’t answer his phone the rest of that night.

All of that excitement sent me into labor. The boys tried desperately to call Ayman to tell him I was in the hospital, but it was no use. Ayman now knew that I was still in love with Ramsi. That feeling wasn’t confirmed until I had seen Ramsi again.

After a short labor of only 6 hours, I gave birth to my first daughter. I named her Morgan. She was born a smart, athletic little girl . She was beautiful at birth, with a very dark complexion, like me. Hopefully  this is a sign that she will look like me and not her father.

I was exhausted and miserable when I got home. I was miserable because I had realized that I still loved Ramsi and that my life was hopeless, other than raising my children. I fell into a deep depression. I was lucky to have my older child to help with Morgan. Chris had recently decided that his goal in life was to marry a beautiful women and have 5 children with her. He wanted to be surrounded by family. He started practicing his baby skills with Morgan.

After about a week I recovered from my slump and got back in the game. I surprised the boys by cooking dinner for the first time since Ayman left. I cooked my  favorite dish of goopy carbonara. Columbus of course brought Chandra. Columbus has a life goal of becoming super popular now. He spends time with friends all the time. He is either home with a friend or at a friend’s home.

I’ve never liked celebrating my own birthdays, but they still seemed to come around. This time I turned forty five. My life hasn’t turned out like I had hoped. When I first settled in Sunset Valley I was hoping for something much different than I have now. I expected to meet a guy, fall in love, and marry him. I wanted my husband and I to travel the world and raise our children on the road. Nothing turned out that way though. On the bright side, I have a nice home, with 3 beautiful children though. Being a single mom of three is difficult, but being a mom in itself is very rewarding.

My handiness set in, along with boredom, and I started upgrading all of my appliances to self-cleaning. It was a way to work out my frustration and be productive while Morgan slept.

One night he spent a whole afternoon playing video games and lost track of time. Next thing I know my son is being brought home in a police car. I didn’t fuss at him too much, but I just reminded him of his curfew.

Late one night I woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep. I looked in all three of my children’s rooms and they all were sleeping like babies. I decided to take a walk outside. On my walk I found a ton of seeds that I could plant in my garden. I was so excited about getting home to plant them. I needed something to feel excited about.

The next weeks went by uneventful. Chris’ 18th birthday came around and we threw him a big party. Of course Ramsi showed up. A beautiful girl by the name of Tammy was there as well. Neither Chris nor I had ever met her before, but as soon as he aged up, he introduced himself and spend the rest of the evening together. Chris gained the party animal trait.

Two days after Chris’ birthday, it was time for Morgan’s. Time to find out what we all had been waiting for. Will Morgan have my nose or Ayman’s nose? I threw a party and invited Ayman, of course he didn’t show up. We had heard absolutely nothing from Ayman since that night Ramsi came to visit the boys. Chris helped his little sister blow out her candles as she turned a year old.

Poor Morgan ended up with her daddy’s nose. She was still beautiful though. She also was very smart and learned her skills very quickly. She even mastered playing the xylophone.

Chris and Tammy had been talking for a few weeks on the phone before he asked her on their first date. They went to the movies and ate at the Bistro. At the end of the date as he was saying goodbye, he asked her a very important question. “Tammy, are you single,” he asked her. “Yes, I have never dated before in my life,” she replied. He told her that he had never dated either. From that day on they were inseparable.

After a few weeks of dating, Chris and Tammy were obviously very much in love. Chris came to me one night after Tammy had gone home. “Mom, I know how important this house is to you and all, but do you mind if Tammy moves in with us? She has a job and makes good money. She could contribute to the family funds.” I told him it was fine as long as she did keep on working and if they didn’t have any children unless they were married. I still had Morgan to think about. Having two grown boys and a toddler little girl was hard sometimes. I knew Tammy and Chris would marry soon though. It was also becoming close to deciding what my will should say.

As soon as Tammy moved in I started noticing things. She mumbled a lot and would get very frustrated at things. She always thought someone was mad at her or going to hurt her. I finally talked Chris into making her see the local psychiatrist. The reports came back and revealed that Tammy had a mood disorder and paranoia(insane, mean-spirited, evil, grumpy, and family oriented). I told Chris that this would be a long road, but if he loved her then as a family we would help her along the way.

I followed her to work one day just to check up on her and she was working with the local mob. I didn’t tell Chris this. I figured it was better she told him or maybe she’d get herself a “real” job one day.

Tammy, Morgan, and I went shopping one Saturday and we took Tammy to get her hair done and to buy her some better cloths. All she had brought from home were old baggy sweat pants. We also bought her some make-up.

Although Columbus was still dating Chandra off and on he spent time flirting with other girls also. I never bothered getting their names. I just watched them closely. We didn’t need my son knocking up a teenage girl. I had to have my first talk with him about commitment and love. Its hard having those conversations when he has seen me not settling down with one man after all these years, but we talked through it.

Columbus loved his sister dearly too. He may have been wrapped up in making a bunch of friends, but he still would do little things. He would feed Morgan breakfast before school and even changed a few diapers. He was growing up fast. At 16 years old he was doing great in school and was thriving with his friends.

A few more years went by and it was time for two birthday parties. One was for Morgan turning 5 and the other for Columbus turning 18 finally. I built a room for Morgan upstairs with us for her birthday present. She gained the ambitious trait and Columbus gained the clumsy trait. I thought that fit Columbus very well.

A make-over left Morgan looking beautiful. I think she turned out just fine with her daddy’s nose.

Another thing happened this same night. Chris finally proposed to Tammy.

Will Tammy say yes? I’ll be back another day to wrap up my story.

Be thinking about who your favorite kid is for the heir poll. :) Leave lots of comments too.
