I had no idea what was going on as I glanced around the room at all of the worried faces. I immediately ran to my father’s side and dropped to my knees. “What happened?” I demanded an answer from my sisters. “Heather and Mom had a horrible fight and Dad tried to stop them, but they left,” Hormonie replied. “Who left and what’s wrong with Dad?” I asked. “Heather took Rebecca and left with Jamal. Dad passed out and we couldn’t find his heartbeat so we called the ambulance and they brought him back. He’s going to be okay,” Hormonie answered again. So, Dad had conquered death but my sister and niece were missing.
I think we all knew that this would happen. Heather’s insanity had been at its worse. Mom always could live with her problems because she took her condition seriously and took her medication. After all of the excitement of Heather’s disappearance settled down, I started working on the house again. Since it was just my parents and I living at home now, I took the master suite and let them have Hormonie’s old room. I also hired a crew to come in and fence in the property.
It was finally time for me to find a husband. I had been dating my old friend from highschool on and off through the years and I settled on him to be my husband. I wasn’t really “in love” with him because I wasn’t very interested in being “in love”, but since I had a legacy to carry on I settled for what I could get. I asked Ezekiel to marry me and he said yes. He moved in with me the same day.
One day shortly after I became engaged, I decided to visit Hormonie. She had exciting news of her own. Her and Quinton were expecting their first child. I was going to be an aunt again. I have no clue how I’m suppose to keep up with all my these nieces and nephews. “I have some news myself,” I told her. “Your going to have a brother in law. I’m getting married soon,” I replied quickly, before the questions started. She had no clue who I was even dating and was very surprised at my choice.
The day of the wedding I had huge butterflies in my tummy. I was scared to death at what I was doing. I knew I had to marry and I knew I was running out of time so I grit my teeth and walked toward my husband. When I first saw him I realized that I did love him and that we could make this work. We had been best friends for years now. This would be ok, I thought.
After the wedding while mingling with the crowd, I had a few surprises. Heidi was pregnant again with her second child and Helda was pregnant with her first.I spent time with Heidi and Helda complimenting their bellies and bragging about my niece or nephew they were carrying. This left only Heather and I as the ones not expecting a child. Later that night Heidi gave birth to healthy twin girls, Stacey and Kellie.
A huge surprise was seeing Heather at the wedding. She had ran off and married Jamal, but Jamal had put her in an institution due to her behavior. Luckily, she was allowed to come out in public and see her sister get married. I was thrilled to see her!
Since Mom and Dad were getting so much older I invited them along on the honeymoon. We all decided on Egypt and spent the first day sight seeing.
Ezekiel and I had our “proper” honeymoon in our tent. Woohoo was not what I expected it to be, and I’m not sure I enjoyed it. I guess practice makes perfect? Well, we’ll see about that.
I spent the second and third day with Dad in a tomb. It was amazing and I realized how much I really enjoy exploring. I took a lot of notes for my next story, Honeymooning in Egypt.
For dinner those nights in Egypt we ate a lot of exotic and rare foods and by the time we got home I was really sick to my stomach. I vomited all night and missed work the day after we returned from our trip. I felt a doctor’s visit coming on.
While we were honeymooning Hormonie gave birth to a little girl, Kristie. Dad was thrilled and drove over there as soon as he could to see his new granddaughter. It was his first time to see the house they purchased with the money he had given her and Quinton.
Mom visited Jamal and Rebecca for the first time since Heather was institutionalized. Becky is in junior high now. It won’t be long before Jamal raises a teenager on his own.
A visit to my doctor gave me very unexpected news. I am pregnant for the first time. I’m scared to death, but Dad is thrilled to see his heir bringing in the next generation. Let’s just hope I don’t have five daughters like he did.
Helda finally gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Terry is the first boy since Uncle Columbus to be born into the family. I secretly hope that I have little boys as well.
It seemed like I would never give birth to my child. Everyone around me was having their babies and I was still having to suffer through pregnancy. I did get to see the twin girls turn a year old. They are identical twins. I have never seen twins that look this similar.
After the party I started having severe pains in my back and I rushed to the hospital. Is it false labor? Am I losing the baby?
Find out next time….
