Thank goodness, nothing was wrong with Saffron or the babies. She had gained twice as much weight, because she was carrying twice as much baby. Zekiel and Stanley Jr were born just days before Zowy’s 13th birthday.

In the past few months, Zowy and the babysitter Pansy had become best friends. Finally Zo would be able to join Pansy in high school. With the beginning of high school, I was scared to death that my baby girl would start bringing home guys. She and I had become really close in the past few years and my protective nature only intensified.

Saffron had promised Zo that they would go shopping and to the salon the very next day for her make-over.

With two kids in high school and twin infants, a whole year flew by uneventful. Zach was still dating Emerson, and Zowy and Pansy were inseparable. The twins first birthday party was celebration at home with just Saffron and I present.

Junior grew hair just like his mom’s. He was a very messy little boy and he loved to go on walks outside.

Zek was more perceptive and cautious.

A teen night club in town had become a big hit for our kids, and we allowed them to go every Friday night. Zo never brought home a boy, but Pansy never left her side, either. I was getting suspicious,  after I heard her giggling and her telling someone that she loved them. I never caught her with a guy, and Zach said she only danced with Pansy at the club.

At the end of Zo’s 10th grade year, I discovered her secret lover. I was totally in shock. How could we have missed this? Our daughter had fallen in love with her best friend. We had missed something vital in Zo’s life.
